Chrizia rental rooms is only a 10-minute drive from the archaeological site of Libarna, a pre-Roman and Roman city in Piedmont, on the left bank of the Scrivia river.
Libarna was an autonomous capital of a vast territory; manuscripts present several variations of the name, with Libarium, Libarnum, Lavarie and Levarnis, while the term Libarna is said to be pre-Roman, i.e. Ligurian.
The Libarna plain had its first settlements in the Middle Iron Age (6th-5th century B.C.), founded by the Liguri Dectunini;
The village developed when an important Etruscan emporium in Genoa at the beginning of the 6th century B.C. established a trade route to the Po Valley and transalpine areas. The archaeological area visible today represents a small part of the ancient city, which occupied a much larger area.
The Libarnese settlement benefited from a flat and stable territory, protected from the risk of flooding, rich in water and in a particularly fertile area; the agricultural economy was based on viticulture, arboreal crops for the exploitation of wood, and cattle breeding. From the votive inscriptions found, we know that the citizens of Libarna were devoted to Jupiter, Diana and Hercules.
