Chrizia Affittacamere is just a short walk from the Marenco Theater, located in the central Via Girardengo true heart of the city of Novi Ligure. On October 2, 1839, designed by architect Giuseppe Becchi, the Carlo Alberto Theater was inaugurated in Novi, reproducing some of the characteristics of the Carlo Felice in Genoa: elegant architectural lines, refined decorations of stucco and gilding, and perfect acoustics. Only a few years earlier, in 1836, a group of citizens had proposed the construction of a new theater that would meet the artistic as well as the social and economic needs of the city. To this end it urged the administration of the time to assemble a commission that identified as a suitable place a space adjacent to the city's main street. Work proceeded expeditiously and a date was set for the inauguration, which staged works by Bellini, Donizetti, Romani and three unpublished dances by choreographer Ottone Mosso.
